Where can I find a good hairdresser that charge a decent price in San Francisco?

I don’t particular like to go to the hairdresser on a good day, but I can’t ignore the 1″+ roots anymore. Need to get this sorted.

This being SF so much stuff is online, there are loads of reviews of different places. It looks like I am going to have to pay around $200 (yes, Cap … I know, I chose to live in one of the most expensive US cities) but still *ugh* and *ugh* again

$200 … I’m not saying a word. Well, not many words. 🙂 Are you looking at the high end salons, or the places like Fantastic Sam’s (a chain of salons, but they are pretty good) or little places like “Bonnie’s Beauty Shop” ? Are you simply looking for a haircut or the cut, color, style – and then the girl comes home with you to style it again the next day? 🙂
I’ve heard of $200 haircuts before, but if you don’t want to pay that much, there have to be people out there willing to charge a little less 🙂

Ah, but you wanted to know where you could find such a place. I’d suggest the phone book … call them up. The less expensive places are not going to be online – because they aren’t fancy and can’t afford it or just don’t want to do it.

Ask one of your neighbors. I’m totally serious. She’ll first be charmed by the accent – even in San Francisco, Americans are still charmed by a Brit accent – and she’ll be flattered that you think she’s stylish and has great hair.

$ 200???? Holy shit! Is that why you find a lot of hippies with long hair? Because they can’t afford it?

I want highlights and a cut. I don’t give a damn about styling or blow-drying the hair cos I won’t be able to repeat that.

In London, I got a recommendation to go to a high end salon and it was great. Fine … now I just want to keep the hair cut. Why is it that hairdresser can’t do “I want the same just this much shorter”?

I am more then happy to go to a local or a chain cos what I am after is paying a decent price for a good service. I won’t find me bragging at parties “oh I go to this maaaarvellous hairdresser” etc

I have been walking around in da neighbourhood but I have not seen anything worth my while (the few I found). Guess also I am spoilt by coming from London where there are hair salons everywhere.

Cap – thanks. I will try the phone book and asking my neighbours. I have had the same idea to ask someone what has nice hair, saw one girl but she was on the phone, and I will continue to look at girls 😉

And also some of these reviews probably came from the salon itself. Other was like “I was serviced water with cucumber in it” Moron!!!
    Few mention price.

    Rant over (for now)

If you want highlights … I’m guessing $75 max, depending on your hair length. In SF, that might be $100 … but it’s better than $200

Keep checking … you’ll find a good one. And remember, use your accent to your advantage 🙂
